We’re all about the holiday season, but oftentimes decorating can feel tacky, time consuming and costly. Especially over multiple holidays. This year, we’re taking a different approach to holiday decor. We’re choosing a palette full of neutrals, and one that can transition throughout fall, thanksgiving, the holidays and beyond.

USE RICH BROWNS AND RUST TONES

Even though rich browns and rust are usually associated with autumn, they can also carry through the holiday season. Pair these bold neutrals with cream or metallics as the holiday season nears for a festive vibe. We love using natural and textured elements as accent colors. Think thick velvet ribbon, throws and pillows, leather vases, table runners. Add metallic touches as December draws near, but maintain the rich and organic textures of the season for both an elevated and cost effective approach to your space.

PURCHASE A FEW NEUTRAL VESSELS

Shop a few neutral vessels to use as staples throughout the seasons. Then, change out the greenery and florals for each holiday or occasion, giving a fresh look with organic pops of color. The bigger the arrangement, the better in our books. Branches and leaves are another nice way to draw interest and make a seasonal statement without breaking the bank. Shop our Parker Leather Vase, a BZS x Made Solid original, for a beautiful textured and neutral vessel for any season.

CHOOSE PIECES AND PATTERNS THAT CREATE A COZY FEELING

We’re loving neutral plaids and faux furs to create both a warm and cohesive feel without screaming ‘holiday decor.’ Layer in allll the warm and textured items using a palette of rich browns, rust, and cream. Pillows and throws are a nice way to do this and maintain a cozy look throughout the season without having to change out soft goods every few weeks.

THINK DECOR FROM THE FARMER’S MARKET

Yes, decor can be edible! Try choosing seasonal fruits and veggies for table settings, mantles, and tabletops. We love incorporating squash and gourds into a harvest tablescape or mantle, while dried fruits figs are perfect for a holiday table or mantle display. Cranberries, dried pears, and pomegranates are some of our favorite festive fruits to lend an organic feel to any space for minimal cost.

USE & DISPLAY NATURAL WRAPPING AND GIFT TOPPERS

A favorite holiday touch of ours–all natural wrapping! We love using craft paper and stamping it with seasonal colors and organic shapes. Pairing with textured twine or velvet ribbon and, our FAVORITE touch, using springs of greenery or herbs as a gift topper. Not only is this environmentally friendly and cost effective, but the wrapping fixings are also beautiful to display in glass jars or a large bowl. When your wrapping is as pretty and organic as the rest of your decor, why tuck it away?
