Our vision for the space was simple: to simplify. To maximize space, but minimize things. By tearing down walls, painting the entire home a soft white, and adding all of the tasteful necessities one would need, we restored this 50’s beauty into the intentional-living form it deserved.
When we purchased the home, it was in near-original condition, complete with 3 dark bedrooms, a tight bathroom and kitchen, and dated finishes. By opening up the kitchen to provide a true chef’s kitchen and dining area, we set the stage for an entertainer’s dream. Bright new cabinets, open shelving, a custom built hood, and butcher block island… who wouldn’t want to cook a healthy meal and invite their closest humans over to share it with? We also opened up and modernized the bathroom, providing a larger footprint in an otherwise small space, adding heated floors as well as a well-lit vanity area and new custom shower and tub. No inch of this space was left untouched… besides our favorite feature, the bay window.
Grab a cup of coffee, light a candle and watch from the bay window as the neighborhood puppies run circles in the park across the street… let life slow down and your mind simplify.
The Art of Aging Pots
Potted greens are a sure sign of spring in the Midwest. They’re a colorful reminder of the coming warmth, longer days and the promise of short-sleeved hikes outdoors.
