A rustic retreat was our clients’ request.
Long days spent as a restaurant chef, deserved tub-soaked evenings of relaxation. Nestled on a rolling, five-acre wooded lot, their secluded log cabin already offered scenic views as amazing as the Midwest’s seasonal changes. Capturing those views from the primary bedroom and bath was key to our design. We opened a wall between the existing main suite and a three-season porch to provide room for reconfiguring the combined space.
Additions included a luxury spa-like primary bathroom with a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower, a freestanding tub and a walk-in closet. Most personal to the client: the use of a vintage concierge table from an East Coast hotel as a custom vanity and two hand-hewn barn beams from a Pennsylvania homestead.
